AFRO EXCELLENCE : BENI BLISS, L'ARTISTE CONGOLAIS QUI MONTE

 

Beni Bliss, jeune acteur de 26 ans au talent indéniable, est à l'affiche de la pièce de théatre (en anglais) ''PRISONER 46664 - NELSON MANDELA'', où il joue le rôle de Walter Sisulu, le meilleur ami de Nelson Mandela et qui relate la vie de celui-ci.

 

La pièce (crée par l'association Théatre En Anglais) raconte l’histoire incroyable d’un homme qui n'a jamais perdu espoir que la justice puisse être ramenée en Afrique du Sud et que le système raciste de l'apartheid puisse être démantelé de façon pacifique, l’histoire d’un homme qui a terriblement souffert aux mains de l'état sud-africain pendant plus de 27 ans, privé de sa famille et de ses amis qui n'ont jamais cessé de croire en lui.

 

Jeune et ambitieux, Beni Bliss nous raconte son rêve, son expérience, ses obstacles ainsi que ses réussites. Avec modestie, il nous dévoile ses ambitions et nous donne ses conseils.

 

Beni est un parfait exemple de persévérance et de courage pour la diaspora et l'Afrique qui ne manqueront pas d'inspiration. Voici l’intégralité de l’interview avec Nsâi Laetitia Vilier

The subject of the show, the struggle for Mandela to put an end to apartheid, is a very good topic of interest for both students and teachers. Ils articulaient suffisamment clairement pour un public de collégiens. Le choix des étapes de la vie de Mandela était tout à fait judicieux. La mise en scène était  sobre et évocatrice, élargie par les vidéos sur écran qui transportaient dans l’univers de l’Afrique du Sud que nos élèves.  Le niveau de langue choisi était à la fois riche et abordable. A few lines to confirm our delight to everyone during the show Mandela. It was really excellent in every way. Marvelous performer from Zimbabwe of course, but all the other actors were of such high quality, with a radiant presence on stage.

 

They articulated clearly enough for an audience of college students. The choice of the stages of Mandela's life was quite judicious (students' question: Mandela did not recite Henley's poem "Invictus" that they themselves must learn!)

 

They were a little disappointed! The direction was sober and evocative, enhanced by the screen-based videos that transported us into the world of South Africa, which our students, despite our preparations in class, have trouble imagining. The language level chosen was both rich and affordable.

 

The students have come out dazzled and myself is planning to take this project next year, with this same piece, if you go back to Bordeaux! So, that compliments, to share with the entire troop, not to mention Mr. Le Cam, always friendly and welcoming on the phone, despite booking changes almost last minute.
