  DOWNLOAD SCRIPT : MR & MRS MACBETH (d’après William Shakespeare)

This adaptation was done by Sam Pinnell and myself. Sam is a TV Producer in the UK with a wealth of experience of writing & producing for TV. We met in the 80s and she is a frequent visitor to France and a great supporter of the work of Theatre en Anglais.

Sam also produced a useful worksheet on "Macbeth" available free on this website.

Note on the script : we took out most of the "thou"s and "would'st" and cut the original down to a very short piece of 25 pages. 3 live actors on stage and 15 actors in the filmed sections. We concentrate on the story between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. On how they are affected by their actions. One could say he becomes a baby killing monster and she defends into self-hurt and suicide. But it is not all dark and there are many delicate and even amusing moments in the piece. A third actor on stage plays all the other important roles like Banquo, King Duncan and Macduff who is Macbeth's downfall in the end.

This season we are hoping to do almost all the performances with the mini films - that are included in the mise en scene of the piece - in 3D ! Unless the salle in which we will be performing is unsuitable then be prepared to wear our glasses and sit back to appreciate Shakespeare in 3D !
