King Lear/Edmund/Torturer - Carlton BUNCE (vu dans "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" en 2004 et "Romeo et Juliet" en 2002).
I was born in Cardiff / Wales. I am a writer, director and actor for Music Theatre, Childrens´ Theatre, TV and film. In 1978 with Dorian Thomas, I opened the Second Space in Chapter ArtCentre, Cardiff. The company was Bomb and Dagger, the production THE SPIDER AND THE FLY. Dave Adams wrote in the Guardian that it was the best thing he´d ever seen. I hope he has seen better since then.
I was the protagonist in Steve Gough´s classic short film THE SECRET LIFE OF FISH, award-winner at the Chicago International Film Festival.
I worked with Action Projects in Education, Cardiff, and formed Cold Steel Community Theatre with Phil Cope, performing in out-of-the-way venues, hospitals and schools all over Wales.
My own community theatre company, Unity Too, toured the UK with the political comedies IT´S A BOBBY´S JOB (from M6 Theatre Rochdale), CHILLI CON CARNAGE (with Paula Gardiner) and UNDER THE HILLS AND FAIRLY NEAR (with Valley and Vale Community Arts).
With Clive Paton, I wrote, produced and directed the COBLYN TV series and feature film for S4C, shown at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1989, I reformed TNT Theatre with Paul Stebbings and John Kenny and co-wrote and directed THE WIZARD OF JAZZ, produced by St Donat´s Arts Centre, which became a very successful Music Theatre piece playing festivals all over Europe, Russia and the Far East. In 1999, THE MURDER OF SHERLOCK HOLMES (with TNT at The Pleasance, Edinburgh) was voted a "Must See" 5-star show in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. MOBY DICK (also with John Kenny) was the highlight of the Volos International Music Theatre Festival. This large-scaleinterpretation of Melville´s novel played at the Megaron, Athens and was broadcast live on Greek national television.
I wrote and directed THE CELLO MAFIA JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH, a musical comedy spoof based on Jules Verne´s novel for five cellists / actors. This show enjoyed a long run in Munich, performed by the renowned Kabarett company.
For the past twelve years, I´ve been writing Music Theatre adaptations of English classics, and directing and acting for a major international touring company. Recently, I wrote and directed THE BLIND CHAMELEON for a German-Finnish youth theatre company which was chosen as the inaugural production for the new Turku State Theatre studio theatre.
I have also worked extensively as a performance artist, most recently with Angela Dauber and Samuel Rachl in Munich. In 2002 I formed Here Be Clams! theatre company in Paris with American artist Paul Swendsen. Our first production was THE DAY TIM STOOD STILL, a one man show premiered in Munich. I am curently working on a Music Theatre sequel THE TIM MACHINE with composer and trombonist John Kenny.
